IT.SERVICES provides central solutions for electronic assessments at RUB. We want to establish a service for e-assessments on campus and in remote settings.
On the topic of electronic assessments, we support and advise examinators and students together with the Zentrum für Wissenschaftsdidaktik (ZfW). We are in charge of the operation of the E-Assessment-Center at Ruhr University Bochum and we take care of exam-related software development and system administration. Furthermore, we support the operation of the PC examination hall of the Faculty of Medicine.
We want to facilitate electronic assessments at RUB in a controlled and secure environment. The authenticity and integrity of the exams, technical security, compliance with privacy and examination regulations, ease of use, equal opportunity, comparability of the exam conditions and a high quality of exam tasks, questions and activities are our main goals.
We provide a separate Moodle instance as the examination system in the central e-assessment rooms on campus. The examination system is independent of our central Learning-Management-System (RUB-Moodle) and it is specifically configured for e-assessments.
The examination system Online-Exam is available since summer semester 2021 for the preparation and conduction of online electronic assessments and exam reviews.
The E-Assessment-Center in GAFO 04 started its operation in February 2024. There are 253 PCs on specifically designed desks. The room can be divided with a mobile partition wall, so that 168 PCs will be available in the large area and 85 PCs will be available in the smaller area. The maximum amount of students per cohort is 240, because several seats are always reserved to safeguard against failures.

Please keep in mind, that exams in the E-Assessment-Center can only take place between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
